Stone was founded in 2010 by Managing Director Chris Andrews, following many years of recruitment experience with listed multinationals across Australia and the UK.

At first, the business focused solely on helping clients fill individual roles. However, it soon became clear that the real barriers to successful hiring often came from deeper issues in process and structure. This insight led to the creation of a best-practice framework built around the key stages of high-performance and sustainable hiring.

Today, Stone delivers a suite of services that support every stage of the recruitment journey, helping our clients hire well, every time.

Chris Andrews

Managing Director

Chris has over 30 years of recruitment experience and has been Director in the UK and Australia in both agile, boutique environments and large global listed names. He has managed permanent and contract teams across disciplines including Sales, Marketing, ICT, Accounting, Professional Services, and Operations.

He founded Stone to create a more personal approach to hiring and is loving the challenge of steering the evolution towards a new, innovative and authentic offering. Chris has always dreamed of being a rock guitarist – a career path that was only derailed by a massive lack of talent.

Jon Wright

Director

Jon is a CPA-qualified accountant who moved into recruitment in early 2016 after more than nine years in commercial accounting and operations. Before joining Stone, he was General Manager of a fast-growing Building & Construction business.

Now a Director at Stone, Jon leads his team in the search for hard-to-find finance talent that others often overlook. A diehard sports fan, he backs the Saints in AFL and NRL (St Kilda and St George) and spends his weekends either barracking in vain or chasing after his young kids, Austin and Norah.

Emily Matthews

Client Manager

Emily’s role at Stone is multi-faceted. As a client partner, she works with growing businesses across Australia to connect them with high-performing people. With a background in finance recruitment, she specialises in roles that drive commercial impact – from Finance Managers to Financial Controllers and everything in between.

With a Bachelor’s in English Literature and Creative Writing, Emily also leads Stone’s brand and creative initiatives – overseeing everything from marketing campaigns to events. Outside of work, she is likely playing fetch with her dogs, listening to true crime podcasts, or deep in a TikTok scroll spiral.

Smetha Raju

Associate Consultant

Smetha is passionate about nurturing a strong and dynamic talent pool, with a core focus on Finance professionals, including Finance Accountants, Management Accountants, and Analysts.

She holds a Masters in Human Resource Management and while finance is her specialty, Smetha also works across a wide spectrum of roles in customer service, administration, HR and other business support functions, offering a versatile and people-first recruitment approach.

Camila Julia

Associate Consultant

Camila’s role bridges administration and human resources, combining her experience in business support with a passion for helping people grow in their careers.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and a strong background in administration, she brings a detail-oriented and empathetic approach to every interaction. Outside of work, she is often at the beach, catching up with friends, or enjoying good food from different cultures.

Ellinor Ekvall

Associate Consultant

Ellinor’s role focuses on proactively sourcing and screening candidates across a broad range of roles within accounting and finance. With a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, she thrives in purpose-driven environments and loves being part of a team that helps others grow.

Outside the office, Ellie is recharged by the simple joys: coastal walks, a good swim, good coffee, and quality time with family and friends.
